This is a great question. Virtual health care services are generally categorized as “synchronous” and “asynchronous.”
Synchronous care simply means “in real time.” For example, you are seeing your doctor in real time when you go for an in-person visit, see them virtually using live video, and speak to them over the phone.
Asynchronous care (async) is care that doesn’t happen in real time. Patients send images, messages or information to their doctor electronically. The doctor reviews and responds at a later time. It functions a lot like email – it’s a timely back-and-forth exchange. This happens through a HIPAA-compliant healthcare app. Here at Gliss, we use the Healthie app for all of our patient care. Not all states allow this form of communication.
Care by GlissMessaging is our unique kind of messaging-based care. No video calls. No phone calls. We provide the same quality care to you through in-depth intake questionnaires, a complete review of your electronic health record and in-app messaging through the Healthie app. This care can include prescriptions.
Care by GlissMessaging is a solid option for women who:
● Love the idea of virtual care, but don’t love being on video or talking on the phone
● Have an idea of what they want and need a little guidance, based on what they’re already doing, and just need the prescription (like birth control, or HRT, for example)
● Prefer online quizzes and questionnaires over in-person visits
Some states prohibit care without video or phone. If you reside in these states, we will notify you of your options.
The cost of prescriptions is not included in our care services. This gives you the freedom to choose where to get your prescription filled. If you want, we are able to ship some medications to you. In this case, you can pay for your prescription through your Gliss patient portal. We’ll go over all of your options with you during your appointment or through messaging.
Yes! You pay for Gliss services upfront using a credit card, but you’ll get a detailed receipt for services that you can use for HSA reimbursement.
Thanks for asking! A Personalized Care package is exactly what it sounds like: It’s whatever services you need, based on your unique concerns.
Some women opt for a fully customized care plan if they feel they need regular in-depth appointments for the short- or long-term. This could mean a 45-minute visit every week, every two weeks, every month, or every 3 months, for example. The best way to see if a fully customized care plan is right for you is to talk to us.
